Graphic Design & Presentation Skills
This program provides students with knowledge and skills in the following desktop publishing software as well as presentation software that will highly develop their artistic skills to generate advertisements, displays and/or visuals: Microsoft Powerpoint, Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign. The students will be able to utilize computer software as a tool to express their imagination and understanding of the world of work in a creative manner. Students also develop a portfolio of individual creative work to present to potential employers. The program prepares students in seeking entry-level to mid-career employment in companies dealing with marketing, sales and/or advertising.
Upon completing Graphic Design and Presentation Skills program, the students will be able to:
- Compare and contrast key elements of design—such as shape, space, line, color, and texture—with key principles of design—such as unity, variety, and proportion—and use both accurately and thoughtfully in design projects.
- Demonstrate competencies in the application of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to create and modify visually appealing documents, publications, and web pages.
- Identify images and composite media presentations that are appropriate according to technological and societal standards based on target audience and delivery medium.
- Develop a portfolio of personal design samples and explain how to incorporate your portfolio as part of an overall design interview.
